FITNESS FOR DUTY EVALUATIONS

A fitness for duty evaluation (“FFDE”) is a medical or psychological evaluation of an employee to determine whether he or she is fit (physically, mentally, emotionally) to perform the essential duties of his or her job. Permitted under state and federal law, the evaluation is requested by the employer who has concern for the employee’s health and well-being and/or the safety of the employee, co-workers or the public. At CME, our clients that frequently request employee fitness for duty evaluations include state and federal agencies, private and public companies universities, municipalities, among others. We also work with private and public security and safety forces to develop risk management and health programs for their employees.

CME has physicians in all specialties that are readily available to employers to conduct fitness for duty evaluations. The evaluating physician will perform an evaluation of the employee and make a determination that will indicate whether or not the individual can safely (without risk of harm to the health and safety of himself/herself and/or others) and successfully perform the essential job functions of his/her position with or without accommodation.
