Jay Puangco, MD, QME, is one of the most sought after sleep physicians in Orange County. He is highly respected amongst his colleagues and well loved by his patients due to his compassionate approach to care. He is double board certified in both neurology and sleep medicine. This combination provides a comprehensive approach to the treatment of sleep disorders. He also stays up to date to provide the latest advancements in treatment for his patients.
Dr. Puangco currently serves as Chief of Service for the Hoag Voltmer Sleep Center. During his tenure there, he has developed the successful cognitive behavioral therapy program for insomnia. He has also created programs to work closely with cardiologists, neurologists, endocrinologists, dentists, and ENT surgeons to treat all aspects of sleep disorders.
Dr. Puangco is an innovative and forward thinking physician for sleep disorders. He is recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurology and the American Board of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Puangco is very active in the medical community and is affiliated with the American Academy of Neurology, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and is a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties.
Dr. Puangco received his medical training from the University of Texas at Houston Medical School. He moved to California to complete his residency training in neurology at USC. After residency he completed a dual fellowship training in neurophysiology at USC and Sleep Medicine at UCLA. He is currently a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry and the American Board of Sleep Medicine. He also holds the prestigious status of Fellow in the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Puangco maintains a private neurology practice in Irvine and is a neurohospitalist for Hoag Hospital Newport Beach and Irvine. Dr. Puangco also dedicates his time educating the community through presentations and educational seminars.
