Suzanne Hyun, MD, QME, is a licensed Anesthesiologist and Pain Medicine Physician who is available for PQMEs, AMEs or Independent Medical Evaluations (IMEs) at several locations throughout California.
BIO
Suzanne Hyun, MD, QME, received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley graduating with high honors in molecular and cellular biology and minoring in nutrition. She volunteered in a nutritional science and toxicology lab studying the molecular cascade in response to feeding and fasting and linked an enzyme to metabolic gene activation. Her work was published in Cell prior to graduating from UC Berkeley. Her interest in health and medicine led her to go to University of California San Diego School of Medicine where she studied the association between the ankle-brachial index and toe-brachial index with cardiovascular mortality in individuals with and without diabetes, and earning her Doctor of Medicine degree. She also volunteered at the UCSD free clinic, providing care to the under-served and homeless population and was a manager of the diabetes clinic. She took courses in medical Spanish to improve her ability to communicate with the patients she was caring for. She continued her training in anesthesiology at Loma Linda University Medical Center where she was selected to be chief resident in her 4th year. During her residency she received training in all the fields of anesthesia but felt drawn to the field of pain management and enjoyed providing care to patients in the pain clinic. She completed a fellowship in pain management at Loma Linda University and was able to see a large breadth of different pathologies. She learned the about the benefits of multi-modal pain management and was trained in a large breadth of interventional therapies.
Dr. Hyun is currently the interventional pain management physician at University Pain Consultants, a private practice, and enjoys staying up to date with the latest research and treatments for patients. Her memberships include the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the California Society of Anesthesiologists, and the North American Neuromodulation Society.
